1920s Whitley Heights House

2300 sq ft

The three-story house is located in historic Whitley Heights. The upstairs area opens out onto a large deck that provides a view of the city and the famed Hollywood sign.

A rich color palette of deep purples and greens, with ebonized floors and coffee-colored walls, was chosen for the home. In the TV room, thick cantilevered shelves were installed to showcase the client's photos and collectibles. A 1950s coffee table inlaid with Capiz shells is paired with a tan sofa and purple throw pillows. The office, which connects to the TV Room, is wallpapered in Cole & Son silver leaf paper. The parchment desk was purchased from JF Chen and the built-in shelving unit was designed by SPI.

SPI designed the black lacquer dining table, and the chairs were purchased from the Elizabeth Taylor estate in Palm Springs. Above the dining table hangs an oversized 5' x 5' 1960s Italian crystal mazzega chandelier.

In the master bedroom, wrought iron rods suspended from the ceiling provide support for the linen bed curtains. An abalone shell chandelier designed by SPI provides soft ambient lighting. The night tables and dresser, also purchased at JF Chen, are made of inlaid bone with a herringbone pattern. The color palette is a combination of light and dark blues mixed with a stark white shag rug and ebonized wood floors. Across the hall from the master bedroom is another bedroom that was converted into a large walk-in closet. The room features a mirror-clad dividing wall with a matching mirror vanity on the reverse side.
